Beach in a Bottle

Packing.  Ugh.  One of my least favorite things to do.  Even more than unloading the dishwasher!  I have to travel quite a bit for work and so I've tried my best to turn packing into a science.  My love for products does not make this an easy thing to do - especially now with all the airport restrictions.

May seem like a no brainer, but the easiest thing I've learned to do was keep my toiletry bag packed at all times with travel sized products.  That way, I can just throw it in my suitcase at anytime and know I have the basics covered.  Besides toothpaste and deodorant, I keep the following in my bag at all times - shampoo, conditioner, Yes to Carrots lotion (love), makeup removing wipes, hairspray and dry shampoo.
Then I'll add in a few extra products depending on where and why I'm traveling. For instance, when I'm on a business trip, I'll make sure to take bobby pins so I can pin up my hair for dinner after a long day of meetings.  Or when it's time for a summer vacation, I'll take a few extra products to help tame the mane.

As I was packing for the weekend, I decided that these are my top 4 products for the summer time.
 1) Mega Volume Next Day Spray by Mark.  This acts very similar to a dry shampoo, but doesn't leave a chalky feel like some dry shampoos do.  And this smells amazing!
2) Coconut Oil from The Body Shop.  This was a reco from my girl Summer and it really does work wonders.  Perfect for taming fly aways and smoothing split ends.  Also, smells awesome - just like the beach!
3) Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum.  As a girl with naturally curly hair, I've tried about every serum out there and I keep going back to this one.  Really speeds up drying time and works perfectly on wet or dry hair.  Perfect size for airport travel as well.
4) Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray.  This is a cult favorite for good reason! I'm mad I lived without this for so many years! Claims to add add volume and texture to create a sexy, wind-blown feel...and boy does it ever.  I prefer to use it on dry hair in order to extend my wash for another day.

Again, in lieu of embarrassing myself, here's an example of how the B&B Surf Spray works.  Washed my hair Saturday morning, went out on the lake, swam, came home, slept and this is the next day at about 2pm.  Gross.
Sprayed a light layer of the Surf Spray all over my hair, lightly scrunched it and let it air dry.  Seriously, it's that easy.  Technically, yes, still dirty hair - but it's presentable and can get you through another day without washing!
If the B&B Surf Spray isn't right for you, here are some other popular options to try.
1) Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray Besides salt, this has sea kelp in it which is known to help hair grow!
2) Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray A favorite of Rachel Zoe and J-Lo (ha! that rhymed)
3) John Masters Organic Sea Mist Spray An organic option with lavender essential oil
4) Fekkai Beach Waves The mixture of ocean botanicals, UV filters and sea kelp makes this worth the extra $.

I've also been LOVING the Ojon products that you can get at Sephora.  I use both of these probably once as week as a deep conditioning treatment.  Sephora usually offers Ojon products as a gift for to using your Sephora points, so you don't have to invest in the full-size product just to try it out.

Or....when all else fails....just wear a big, floppy hat and call it a day!!!

  1. LOVE the big floppy hat! I tried dry shampoo once and I was either horrible at the application or it's just not as easy for brunettes. No matter what I do my hair always looks greasy. Hello ponytails!

  2. I'm going to have to try the Mark Mega Volume Next Day Spray. I love the idea of dry shampoo but never am happy with the results and I've tried a few different brands. Agree with you Racquel - not easy for brunettes...even though the spray is darker in color, it still looks and feels chalky!

Have a great time with the Yoopers!

  3. Love the B & B spray! One of my faves for summer! Also I've been meaning to try the Ojon stuff I might have to now! PS you are adorable -- I love the hat!

  4. If you have many acne scars and freckles just like me this may not gives full coverage for your skin! bottle cutter kit
