Q&A with Kelly

Back on schedule!  It's Friday Q&A!

This will be the last round of posts with this set of questions!  Next week I'll be changing it up so make sure to check back!

But before we move on, it's Kelly's turn!  Kelly loves everything girly - shopping, fashion, celeb gossip - - which is why we get along so well ! So she makes the perfect MB! (Mall Buddy!)

And if you're really lucky, she'll invite you over for  one of her infamous red carpet viewing parties!  There are prizes people!

So with that, welcome Kelly!

1.  What's missing from your closet?

My initial reaction to this question is: More space! I was lucky enough to grow up with a walk-in closet – my condo does not offer the same luxury. For now, I can only dream of a Carrie Bradshaw closet…

This is a hard question for me because I feel like I’m always in need of something. Yes, NEED, not want… But a classic, black wrap dress has been haunting me for a few years! It’s a closet staple that is known for its flattering fit. So why can’t I find one?! The material is always too clingy or it’s too low cut. If anyone has a recommendation, please comment!

2.  What's your signature beauty tip?

For everyday makeup application, I like a natural look with just a hint of sparkle for my eyes. To achieve this, I have a two-step process that I love to share with my friends!

MAC “Naked Lunch” Eye Shadow + Stila Smudge Pot in “Kitten”
The smudge pot – a cream shadow that can also be used as a liner – acts as a great primer or base and adds the sparkle. Like Kim, I’m not a fan of anything overly glittery but I think Kitten has just the right amount of sass for everyday wear. In the past I’ve had problems with creams shadows gathering in the creases of my eyelids, but don’t experience that with the Stila smudge pots. After I apply Kitten to my lids, I add a layer of Naked Lunch on top. The colors work really well together and the combination of cream and standard shadow makes it last all day long. It’s also a great base for more dramatic colors for a night out on the town!

3.  What are your favorite summer shoes?

WEDGES! For a shortie like me, wedges are a dream come true because they provide extra height without killing my feet.

Since there’s no way I can choose between all of the pairs in my… cough…’collection’, I’ve included a few that I hope find their way to my closet some day verrrry soon. Honestly, I may have a problem.

4.  What must you always have in your house?

Magazines. Whether it’s US Weekly, Cooking Light, InStyle, Shape or Real Simple…chances are I have the last three issues in my condo. For me, reading a magazine is the ultimate in relaxation. You’d think in this “digital age” I would have moved past my love of magazines, but I just can’t quit them!

Yes, I follow a number of blogs and probably would find the same type of information on Pinterest, but there’s nothing quite like spending some QT on the beach catching up on celebrity gossip (what’s new with my favorite celeb son, Kingston?) or curling up on the couch on a rainy Sunday afternoon and reading about next season’s fashion trend (hopefully more peplum!).
This is not staged – there are currently 22 magazines on my coffee table.
The doctor’s office waiting room has nothing on me!

5.  What's your most prized possession in your jewelry box?

About five years ago, my BFF Abby gave me a gold leaf necklace for my birthday. It was love at first sight (she knows me so well!) I probably wear it at least three times a week. It’s simple and classic, which makes it really versatile -- I can wear it with a T-shirt and jeans or a LBD.
I’ve worn it so much over the years that the gold plating rubbed off. Luckily, I recently found a replacement on Etsy. Otis B. Jewelry has many different necklace and leaf styles. It was hard for me to choose!

6.  What's your signature dish?

I really enjoy trying new recipes, especially apps. But whether you’re entertaining or bringing a dish to someone else’s pad, it can be nerve-racking to try something new! So it’s nice to have a go-to recipe for an impromptu get-together or as a back-up when something doesn’t pan out (I’m talking to you Mexican pinwheels!)

Enter “Savory Parmesan Bites” aka “Kelly’s Red Pepper Squares” Crescent rolls, cream cheese, parmesan cheese and roasted red peppers? How can you go wrong? I can’t even count the amount of times I have made these in the past few years and every time I bring them to a party I end up writing down the recipe for the host or other guests. On top of the fact that they’re delish? They’re SO EASY!

And if you want to mix it up a bit, try these similar recipes
•  JalapenoPopper Pockets
•  S’moresPockets
•  PizzaPockets

Thanks, Kelly!
