Q&A with Kory

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm back with round 2 of the new Q&A questions and this week I interviewed my sister Kory!

My sister Kory is a mom to the 3 most adorable girls in the entire world - - Ryan, Kendal and Hayden.  (And I'm yes I can claim that because, well, this is my blog!) And even though she's a super busy mom, you'll never catch her in mom jeans! She's always wearing the cutest outfits and using the best new products - - as you'll see below!

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that she's hiring right now at her State Farm Office!  Kory is an agent in Fraser (MI) and is looking to add another team member to their already fabulous team!  If you're interested or have a referral, email her here for more details! Of if you have any insurance needs, banking, mutual funds, or just want to see if she can beat your auto insurance rate (and I bet she can) go to

1.  Top knot, fish tail braid, sleek pony...What's been your go-to hair style for this summer?

I don’t fishtail, but I do braid!  In the bangs, down the back, or both. I love twisting and pinning.
I use mini-bobbi pins which are 1/2 the size of the real thing so they are less noticeable.
I am definitely NOT a sleek person...the messier the better!
My daughter Kendal wants her “Taylor Swift” braid every day so I'm pretty good at creating that look!

2.  Make-up Must Haves:  What 3 things can you not live without?

1.  Bronzer: I've always been a NARS Laguna fan, but The Multiple from NARS has been fun this summer for a more sheer, highlighted look with a touch of shimmer. It’s cream-to-powder and really smooth.

2.  Eyeliner:  I layer a pencil under the liquid for staying power. Navy is a secret weapon for me to brighten eyes. It also looks great with the golden and bronze shadows that work best with my brown eyes. Makeup Forever makes a great liquid liner that lasts literally forever!

3.  Mascara:  Call me Carrie Underwood. When I read her interview in Cosmo stating that she mixes 3 different kinds of mascara to achieve her look- I knew I wasn’t crazy anymore. Her routine is length, volume, definition... I use 2 coats of MAC Haute n Naughty (for the volume/length with the 2 sided brush) followed by Benefit "They’re Real!" for the definition. It works for me...for now!

3.  Summer dresses: Do you go maxi or mini?

Mini! Yes, but only with flats or sandals for this girl…
Heels with a mini aren’t a “do” for my every day. I try to pick styles that aren’t too summery so that same mini dress can also take me into fall with a pair of leggings or tights, a sweater
and some cool boots.

4.  What's your favorite room in your house and why?

Our Master bedroom. And the first picture is why :)  It’s our favorite place to cuddle with our 3 girls...
I like the room because it only takes a minute to pick up/clean. I make my bed every morning. A lot has changed since high school! I love Pottery Barn quilts. I just feel like they lay nicely and can be layered. My husband thinks there’s too many pillows, but I agree with Kim’s previous blog - that you can never have enough!

5.  What's your daily skin care regimen?

1. Clarisonic with Fresh Soy Face CleanserI started using my Clarisonic with Fresh cleanser from the start and now they actually advertise together! The Soy Face Cleanser is a super-gentle, daily cleanser perfect for every day. It lathers nicely and removes every single trace of eye makeup.

2.  Korres Pomegranate Toner:  Mattifies and refines the look of pores-smells good and doesn’t sting. Nice stuff.

3.  DDF Protective Eye Cream SPF Plus with CoQ10: (a Guiliana Rancic fave!) I tried a sample from Sephora and loved it. Imagine my surprise when I found this at TJ MAXX for $12.99! (compared to $50 retail)...and no, it wasn't expired. :)

6.  What's something you're currently obsessing over right now?

Neutrals and Neons!!
The mix of conservative and colorful is right up my alley. I can even wear it to work! This is my new purse!  From Deuxlux . I LOVE their stuff (bags/wallets/cardholders) and have received so many compliments on it.

Courtney Kerr from Eligible Dallas does it right with the neutral dress and neon accessories…
but really, when doesn't she do it right???
And don’t forget neon blue! I have a similar pair to KK's below and got mine from Express.
They look good with almost any color. (Similar here)

Thanks Kory!!
